You can talk to someone online for awhile, but still feel like you don't even know them that well. I find it pretty amusing that I first started talking to Sydney online over a year ago, but until we finally met up last month in person there was still a lot I didn't know about her. When we first were sending IMs back and forth, we'd focused so much on talking about sex that I'd forgotten her name until I had to ask her after we hooked up! Thankfully she found it amusing, and she's been pretty chill about hanging out since. She also seems to be enjoying taking photos for here and my site, which is funny since she originally told me she was shy. She plans everything to death though--the other night she was craving straightforward sex and she wanted to spend some time downloading music on my highspeed connection and taking pics. She's way into music (she goes to school and does some sound and light production work as a part-time job), and she has turned me onto the ipod in a big way. She can be kind of bossy, but she was able to chill me out by bringing a bottle of two buck chuck and using her hands and mouth for a bit. Does it make her mood worth putting up with? You bet your ass it does.
